In order to become eligible for this first home owners grant, you must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident, and you must be buying your first home in Australia. If you are living abroad, you'll still be eligible for the grant if you use a mortgage broker within the country. Maintain your end of the deal by moving into the property for a minimum continuous period of six months before the purchase is a full year old.
FIRST HOME OWNERS GRANT
The First Home Owners Grant Australia provides assistance for Australian purchasing property for the first time. The First Home Owners Grant varies depending on which state you will be purchasing property from. The FHOG in Australia is a great way to attain assistance from the government to purchase your first home. Applicants can either submit an application form and receive the grant once the purchase has been made or can apply through their mortgage broker/bank and receive payment on settlement.
FHOG NSW provides $15,000 when purchasing new homes up to $650,000. Stamp duty exemptions apply for new homes up to $550,000 and concessions for new homes between $550,000 and $650,000.
FHOG of $15,000 for buying or building a new home to the value of $750,000.
1st Home Owners Grant of $25,000 for any regional area or new home in an urban area. $12,000 FHOG for purchasing an existing home in an urban area.
FHOG of $10,000 for the purchase of a new home and $3,000 for an established home.
FHOG of $15,000 for new homes up to $750,000.
1st Home Owners Grant $10,000 for new homes up to $750,000. 30% stamp duty reduction for purchases up to $600,000.
FHOG of $12,500 for new or substantially renovated homes.
FHOG of $20,000 up to 30 June 2015.
As an eligible applicant, you will be entitled to a one-off AUD $7,000 payment, depending on your state and situation. The funds will not be based on your income, the area in which you plan to buy or build, or the value of the home. The grant is not means tested and no tax is payable on it.
Eligibility can depend on a variety of factors including the state in which you purchase your property. For example, in NSW you are entitled to $15,000 when you are purchasing a new property.
